IRFA) about religious persecution of refugee populations eligible for consideration for admission to the United States. This report meets the reporting requirements of Section 3. North Korean Human Rights Act of 2. Public Law 1. 08- 3. October 1. 8, 2. 00. Stat. 1. 28. 7) by providing information about specific measures taken to facilitate access to the United States refugee program for individuals who have fled “countries of particular concern” for violations of religious freedoms, identified pursuant to Section 4. IRFA. Foreword. On the occasion of World Refugee Day, June 2. President Obama re- affirmed our nation’s commitment to helping refugees and our leading role in providing safe haven. This commitment comes at a time when the global community faces an unprecedented crisis of displacement. There are currently more refugees, asylum- seekers, and internally displaced persons – nearly 6. World War II. The United States leads the world in providing humanitarian aid to crises from which innocent people flee and also is the top destination for refugees recommended for resettlement by the UN refugee agency (UNHCR). While starting life anew in the United States may be daunting, it also offers hope and unparalleled opportunity. It is a chance not only to escape from violence and persecution but to start again. The assistance the American people provide helps newcomers find their footing and become a part of their new communities. Refugees are not the only ones who benefit; they add to America’s vitality and diversity and make substantial contributions to our economic and cultural life. Resettlement in a third country is a solution for some of the world’s most vulnerable refugees. As a matter of principle, the U. S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) offers the possibility of resettlement to refugees regardless of their location, national origin, health status, occupational skills, or level of educational attainment. Key points: Refugee support services are only meant to last for 12 months; Four others in the resettlement program returned to the countries they fled; Mr Roshid is sick and frustrated by the poor medical treatment he receives. Resettlement Program Remains Strong. In FY 2. 01. 5, the Administration aims to reach the ceiling of 7. President. The program is on target to do this, despite safety concerns that halted refugee interviews in Baghdad for more than ten months; more than 1. Iraqi refugees are expected to come to the United States in 2. Since 2. 00. 7, more than 1. Following World War II and in response to the large numbers of people fleeing Eastern Europe, the UN 1951 Refugee Convention adopted the following definition of 'refugee' to apply to any person who (in Article 1.A.2): owing to. United nations jobs at Kigali, Rwanda. Closing date: 2016-10-13 Application : Apply for the job Organization: Engility Corporation Country: Rwanda Closing date. Iraqis have been resettled via the refugee program, including at least 3. United States by family ties or employment. FY 2. 01. 5 also saw other events that slowed the pace of arrivals, such as the earthquake in Nepal, challenges staging interviews of refugees in hard- to- reach or insecure places, and occasional foreign government reluctance to approve departures. Nonetheless, concerted refugee processing efforts will mean that USRAP will likely reach the FY 2. For example, we had estimated that 1. Africa in 2. 01. 5 but now expect to exceed that number by several thousand. More refugees will come to the United States from Africa this year than in any year since 2. Reflective of our commitment to offer safe haven to even more refugees, the Administration is proposing an increase in the FY 2. This will require cooperation among several US government agencies, including close interagency coordination on security checks to ensure refugee cases are scrutinized thoroughly and still processed efficiently. As a public- private partnership, it will also require the support of American non- governmental organizations, charities, faith- based groups and thousands of volunteers and supporters of the program in hundreds of communities across the country. In honor of World Refugee Day, the White House celebrated the courage and resilience of those who flee violence and persecution, and the dedication of those individuals who provide protection and assistance to refugees abroad and ensure a warm reception for them here in the United States at a White House Champions of Change event held on June 2. Tomorrow, on World Refugee Day, we will pause to reflect on the millions around the world who have been displaced from their homes—the hardships they face, the courage and resilience they demonstrate, and the dedication of those who come to their aid. This year’s commemoration comes as worldwide displacement reaches record levels, with nearly 6. From Syria to Iraq, from Burma to Burundi, from South Sudan to eastern Ukraine, the number of displaced and vulnerable has escalated. The struggles of some are captured in searing images—of people waiting at border crossings, housed in endless lines of tents, and crammed into rickety boats at sea—while those of others, crowded into the shadows of large cities, may go unobserved. As the largest global donor of humanitarian aid, the United States supports programs that provide food, water, shelter, and medical care to refugees and other displaced persons. We thank the aid workers who deliver this assistance, sometimes at great personal risk, and we offer our gratitude to the many families who open their homes to those in need. All the while, we express our appreciation for the millions of men and women who, having endured the struggles of displacement, have contributed so much to the life of this Nation. President Barack Obama. June 1. 9, 2. 01. In commemoration of World Refugee Day. Syrian Resettlement. The refugee crisis caused by the conflict in Syria is the worst the world has witnessed in a generation, with more than 4 million refugees in the region. While the vast majority of Syrians would prefer to return home when the conflict ends, it is clear that some remain extremely vulnerable in their countries of asylum and would benefit from resettlement. The Administration is committed to increasing Syrian resettlement in 2. The United States is one of 2. UNHCR as part of its ambitious international effort to secure permanent or temporary resettlement for 1. Syrian refugees by the end of 2. As of mid- 2. 01. UNHCR has referred more than 1. Syrian refugees to the United States and these individuals are being screened to determine whether they are eligible. We expect to admit some 1,6. Syrian refugees in FY 2. In FY 2. 01. 6, we project we will admit at least 1. Syrians. It’s almost unfathomable that nearly 6. That is the largest number the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has ever counted and 8 million more than the record set just one year ago. We’ve seen haunting images of Syrian families fleeing indiscriminate barrel bombings and young children rescued at sea after days without food. Escaping from bullets, bombs, or machetes is often just the beginning of the ordeal. Refugees remain in exile for an average of 1. Some are born and grow up in camps and never get to leave them. I’ll never forget meeting with refugee leaders on my recent trip to Kenya, where 3. Somali refugees live in a remote, dusty camp complex called Dadaab. By video link to Nairobi, I spoke to a group of Dadaab’s best students. They told me how they dream of attending university and pursuing careers in medicine, politics, and human rights. But they also shared their fears that they would end up trapped and jobless, and that all their striving would be in vain. We cannot let that happen. Secretary John Kerry. June 1. 8, 2. 01. In commemoration of World Refugee Day. In- Country Processing in Central America. In December 2. 01. Administration established an in- country refugee and parole program for children in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. If their parents are lawfully present in the United States, the parents may file to bring their unmarried children under 2. As of August 2. 01. Because the majority of applications were received from May- to- July, very few such minors will be admitted to the United States in FY 2. We expect a modest, yet increasing number of admissions in FY 2. The Departments of State and Homeland Security continue to inform eligible parents in the Central American community about the new program, through the media, community meetings and conference calls, and are exploring ways to broaden outreach. Improvements to Global Resettlement. Our efforts to convince more nations to resettle refugees continue to pay dividends. In recent years, countries without a history of resettling refugees have stepped forward and established programs. The list includes Switzerland, which has announced a regular resettlement program, and Japan, which has announced that its pilot program will become permanent next year. In 2. 01. 4, a total of 2. UNHCR. Most of these countries have agreed to accept Syrian refugees referred by UNHCR. A number of other countries without regular resettlement programs have also stepped forward to admit Syrians through humanitarian admissions programs. For several years the U.

My friend invited me here for what was apparently a girl's brunch out... Any who here was my experience on a late Saturday morning. Ambiance: Parking . There's counter seating and table seating both inside and outside. It can house about 4. Feels . As for the place itself, it's a pretty clean and classy place, not like your typical 9. It can get pretty loud as its a popping place. Great place to catch up for people of all ages. Food: Cereal & Milk.. Milk & Cereal (A- OK)This isn't their marquee dish but I wanted something light. The oats and bunches were warm and fruit tasted sweet. The milk in a small jar provided a nice touch. A solid dish but once again, I'd focus on their more popular sweet treats. Service: I appreciate the servers being attentive during the hustle and bustle. Props to them for not caving in under stress. TL; DR 4 Stars. The price was lowkey but not ridiculously pricy, food was deee- lish, and the service was great. It's definitely a different feel which I can appreciate. I'm not too familiar with Fullerton but if I were to forward people where to go for breakfast, this is definitely a place. Tips: * Great place for crepes, waffles, and all those breakfast sweets. Really cute, but super small cafe. I came here with a friend after church and there was a long wait, but we got seated fairly quickly. I think a party ahead of us canceled or was a no- show. I admit it took a long time for a server to approach us, ordering, and the time it took to make our food took a very very long time. We just ordered a breakfast panini and omelette, but I think it came out almost 3. The food wasn't anything spectacular. Just your regular bfast and brunch items. It was just average, not good, but not bad. I think that my last visit here must have been on an *off* day. When it comes to breakfast I always stick with French toast, but decided to venture out and try something new. I got the Smoked salmon scramble which is scrambled eggs, topped with smoked salmon, goat cheese, and fresh dill. I can see why I don't come here often. The salmon is fresh and tasted well with scrambled eggs mix with the goat cheese. I could barely finish most of it. Overall, cute cafe in Downtown Fullerton and one of the most popular breakfast spots. And outdoor seating is longer. Free public parking down the street at parking garage for 3 hours. My friend & I wandered into our old stomping grounds for brunch (well, lunch) & where has this place been all my life. I called around 1. So I hauled ass to put my name down as my friend was running late. I got there and was seated right away.. The place is very hipstery and so is the staff. They are suuuuper nice. I ordered their bloody which really had some spice, which was nice. I ordered the breakfast crostini and omg what is life, it's SO bomb!!!! I also ordered a side of potatoes- - crack potatoes. It looks so simple, but it was so freaken delicious, I nearly polished off the entire plate. Our server dropped by a few times just to make sure we liked the food and yassss. My friend ordered the smoked salmon scramble? She also said the food here was SO good. In fact, we both repeated how good our food was. We chitchatted for a while & didn't feel rushed out. There's a parking structure down Wilshire that has three hours free parking & free all day Sundays. I'm at this stage where any place that requires freeway is far to me, but I'd totally make a trip back out for the exact same breakfast. This review is long over due. This place is great, the customer service is great and the food is delicious. Definitely recommend. Just ok.. This place gets crowded for b- fast so we came early. Small quaint place with limited seating. Food - The Wilshire Omelette was good, I liked the ingredients. The hash brown wasn't cooked enough and had no flavor. The Eggs in a nest we're very good at all. Just a thin piece if toast with an egg and cheese. The potatoes it came with weren't cooked enough as they were tough inside and were terrible. I also didn't lime that my toast wasn't buttered so when I did add butter, it melt into the toast. I also didn't like the small fork that I had. Kind of my issue I guess, but still. Maybe I'm too critical with this. Service - 2 waiters seemed busy but the place wasn't crowded and they never refilled our coffee until the end of meal. Overall we were disappointed since this place seems so popular. Love this cafe in downtown Fullerton! The breakfast crostini with the a Bloody Mary and a few cups of their wonderful coffee really hit the spot for a light morning breakfast. There are no bad choices here. The staff are great, food better, and you can rely on them to serve everything property hot or cold. Fantastic little gem. Went here today for the first time. Love the decision to make drinking a cup better by a great mug! Our coffee was good but the hot chocolate was decadent. We ordered the breakfast panini with fruit and the quiche with hash browns. I will say the hash browns were pretty basic but still good. Service was super friendly. Jealous of my friend who does! We wanted something savory and something sweet so we ordered the following: -Breakfast Crostini $1. MUST GET** Such a simple yet delectable dish. They top the 2 baguettes with baked mascarpone cheese, berry compote, creme anglaise and whipped cream. I only wished that the baguette was a little less crunchy. I let them know that I needed to use the restroom and that I noticed the woman who had grabbed the key to go came back, but didn't return the key. Secondly, I needed to pee, and I happened to witness her grab the key as I got up to go to the restroom, so, of course I knew that she had grabbed it, and of course I thought it was strange that she left, but hadn't returned the key. It was so rude and disrespectful. I was very upset and didn't appreciated being treated that way. I explained the story to my boyfriend, his sister, and his mother, and they all thought the same thing. The restaurant is pretty small, but has a nice ambience to it. The waiter here with the handlebar mustache was super friendly, and nice which made the experience more enjoyable. My girlfriend and I ordered the smoked salmon crostini, the traditional eggs Benedict, and their infamous french toast made from a baguette. Smoked Salmon Crostini - Rating 3. The smoked salmon crostini was average in my opinion. The put capers, cream cheese, smoked salmon, a tomato, and a nice crunchy bread. The salmon was good, had an overpowering fishy taste in my opinion but was balanced out with the tomato and cream cheese. However they put way too many capers on each piece, the 4- 5 capers overpower everything else and give it that strong caper taste. Eggs Benedict - Rating 4. The eggs benedict came with poached eggs, ham, and a hollandaise sauce on a toasted baguette slice. This is the first time i've tried an eggs benedict on a baguette instead of an english muffin. I was skeptical at first, but to my surprise, it worked well. The hollandaise sauce here is really yummy, and so is their ham! The eggs were poached perfectly and the yolk just came oozing out when you broke the egg. I was really pleased with the eggs benedict here, i would definitely recommend this if you like eggs benedict. French Toast - Rating 3/5 - I ordered the french toast because everyone was posting pictures of it on their yelp, so i figured it must be good. The french toast is served on a french baguette with mascarpone cheese and topped with berry, creme anglaise, and whipped cream. I personally didn't like the baguette being used as the bread, it was too hard/crispy and wasn't that soft and fluffy french toast bread that i am used to. The french toast is really sweet, despite them giving you no syrup. The fruit/whip cream/and creme anglaise make it surprisingly sweet, so just be prepared. What i didn't like was that the bread under the first slice had pretty much nothing on it, so i was pretty much just eating a baguette with some butter on it. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who is a fan of traditional french toast, as you might leave disappointed like i was. All in all this a nice small breakfast joint in Downtown Fullerton. Their prices range from $8- 1. If you end up choosing this place, I would recommend getting their eggs Benedict, and skip out on their french toast. However a lot of people seem to like it so maybe its just me. Hipster little place for brunch. Caution: dogs/large parties. Went on a Friday afternoon, had roughly a five minute wait, not bad at all. There is seating indoors and outdoors. BEWARE: 1) I don't think they allow dogs (other than service dogs) even if it's outside. I saw a couple with a dog get turned away with the waitress saying something about they can't accommodate dogs and it wasn't their rules? If you want to bring a dog, I'd call ahead just to be sure. They do not take parties of more than six people. The place itself is small and quaint as some people have said. Personally I thought it was a little hipster, but not TOO hipster. The food was on point. I ordered the smoked salmon scramble. The eggs were nice and fluffy with a faint taste of the smoked salmon. The salmon itself was arranged beautifully and tasted delicious. Best smoked salmon I have had in a while. Their breakfast potatoes were similar to fries, just not fried. And my order came with toast (sourdough, wheat, or rye) with butter and jam. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I did wish their cocktails were a little cheaper, $6. Mary ($2. 0 for a jar I think?). Service wasn't the best but my needs were met. Parking wasn't that bad either. Would come back again (: I love the feel of this cute little cafe and it's a great place for brunch in downtown Fullerton. I would rate this place a solid 3. First time, I tried the eggs benedict with hash browns, bacon, and the smoked salmon crostini. All were good; the eggs benedict was not spectacular but good enough.
